Hurst Painting Answers Your Questions about What Makes a Great Paint Job:
What makes a great paint job?
First and foremost the prep job! If you don’t prepare the walls by sanding and cleaning the surface properly you just cannot get a good, long lasting paint job.
We caulk, putty and spackle holes, dents, chips, dings and imperfections and then we sand to get the smoothest surface possible.
What should you look for in a painter and a quote?
When you a get a quote from a painter or even a larger painting company make sure that your quote includes all the prep of sanding, and fixing surfaces.
We use the highest quality paint from the manufacturer that you choose. Example: Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams, etc… Ask your painter what line, and quality of paint they are going to purchase for the job.
What questions should you ask a painter before hiring them?
1. What do you do to prepare the surfaces?
We sand all surfaces first.
Then we wipe all surfaces clean. We also caulk and putty and spackle holes, dents, chips, dings and imperfections to get the smoothest surface possible.
2. What type of paint do you use?
We like Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore paints. Not only are they good quality paints, but they also have a wide selection of colors.
3. How many coats of paint do you use?
We sand all surfaces first. Then we wipe all surfaces clean. Depending on the results, we prime the surface. We use a minimum of two coats of paint AND often a coat of primer as well. BUT, we do as many layers as it takes to get good coverage.
